SCOTT RIGGS (No. 10 Valvoline/Stanley Tools Dodge Avenger)
"We worked on qualifying setup the entire morning and thought we had it pretty good. I think the biggest thing that gave us a loop there with that lap, the reason we lost some time was because we didn't have the same heat in the brakes as before and we kept locking up the left front getting into the corner. The entry hurt my corner and I think that's what hurt our time. There's nothing to do now but wait and see if we make it in or not."
RYAN NEWMAN (No. 2 alltel Dodge Avenger)
"It was pretty eventful. I had a little too much rear brake in it and got into one a little bit harder than I should have and turned it around. I feel bad for the guys on the alltel Dodge team. They did a great job in practice and I feel like I let them down a little bit in qualifying. It killed the tires. It killed the speed. It killed a little bit of the mentality. We'll get it back. We should have been pole material, and I just tried to use too much brake getting in and lost the back of the car getting in and spun it around. We had to regroup to get it back and we got a lap in. That wasn't a perfect lap, either. It could have been a lot worse, but I've wasted the first lap before and won the pole on the second. After being P-5 in practice I'm a little bit disappointed, but I know we've got a good car."
JUAN PABLO MONTOYA (No. 42 Texaco/Havoline Dodge Avenger)
"We got in two decent laps. It's hard because the car was pretty tight this morning and we freed it up a little bit. It wasn't as free as I wanted it to be, but with two laps here it's just so easy to screw up. You think you've got the grip and you get out of those brakes and you don't have the grip, you're in the #$%*. I think it was good. We did two conservative laps. Maybe it was what I told Donnie (crew chief Wingo). Maybe we had half a tenth to a tenth more in there and maybe if we had a tenth more in there we would have been eighth or seventh. This was pretty good. Bristol was a nightmare, but this feels right."
HAVE YOU HAD A MARTINSVILLE HOT DOG YET? "No. Somebody gave me one, but I said no thank you. Stremme had four today, two for breakfast and two for lunch. He's got some issues.
KURT BUSCH (No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge Avenger)
"I think we ran the same time we ran in practice. If not, it was real close. The car has been a little bit tight. If we're going to run the same lap times we ran in practice, I think that's OK. Normally you want to pick up a little bit. We'll see where we shake out. We've just got to get the tightness out of it. I couldn't wait for Bristol to end. We're here at Martinsville struggling with the same thing."
