RYAN NEWMAN (No. 12 Alltel Dodge Charger) -- Qualified 4th

"Our Alltel Dodge was pretty good. I wish we could have been three hundredths quicker, but I'm pretty happy with the way the car ran. It was a pretty harmless lap, no big mistakes. The car felt pretty good, so we'll see how it works out tomorrow in practice."

KASEY KAHNE (No. 9 Dodge Dealers/UAW Dodge Charger) -- Qualified 5th

"That's the best we've qualified here. A few more cars will probably beat us, but that's a good lap for us and it'll give us a good starting spot for Sunday. We've always had to start from the back here, so it'll be good to start up front."

***

KURT BUSCH (No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge Charger) -- Qualified 9th

"It was sweet to drive the blue deuce into victory lane last week at Bristol. This is going to be a new challenge for us here at Martinsville. Short track racing is so exciting, so hopefully we can do it again here this weekend. We've got a top-10 starting spot, so we'll work hard in practice tomorrow to get it ready for another good race on Sunday."

***

SCOTT RIGGS (No. 10 Valvoline/Stanley Dodge Charger) -- Qualified 11th

"We were going to make it in last weekend even though it rained out qualifrying at Bristol. It looks like Kasey had a pretty good lap there, and we were right there with him in practice, but we ended up 11th fastest in qualifying. That'll give us a good starting spot. We'll try to stay out of trouble Sunday and get another good short track finish."

***

CASEY MEARS (No. 42 Texaco/Havoline Dodge Charger) -- Qualified 32nd

"I thought we were better than we were on the speed charts in practice. We ran our quickest time on old tires, so I thought we'd be quicker on new tires. This is one of the better cars I've had here. It's tough to get your rhythm at these short tracks, but I think we're going to be OK. We had a decent qualifying lap, so we'll just get ready to race."

JEREMY MAYFIELD (No. 19 Dodge Dealers/UAW Dodge Charger) -- Qualified 23rd

"The guys have been doing a great job. Everybody has been working hard, and we're going to get this thing turned around. We'll get headed in the right direction and get back up there in the top 10 in points like we've been the past two seasons. We had a decent run last week at Bristol, and hopefully we can improve on that here Sunday. We picked up from practice in qualifying, and that's always good, so things are looking up."

***

BOBBY LABONTE (No. 43 Cheerios/Betty Crocker Dodge Charger) -- Qualified 13th

"That wasn't quite as fast as we practiced, but we came close to backing it up. We've got a good starting spot, and we'll go to work and get it hooked up and try to have another good run Sunday like we did last week at Bristol."
