MARTINSVILLE, Va. (Sept. 22, 1998) One day after parting ways with Steve Grissom, the Hedrick Motorsports team has announced that NASCAR veteran David Green will drive the No. 41 Kodiak Chevrolet this weekend in Martinsville Speedway. Green is being brought on board for Sunday's NAPA AutoCare 500 on a trial basis.

"Right now it's just for Martinsville," said team manager Mike Hill. "We're still looking for a permanent deal."

Grissom was released from his contract Monday after failing to make last Sunday's MBNA Gold 400 at Dover Downs International Speedway, his second missed start in the car this year due to qualifying problems.

Team owner Larry Hedrick said the team would prefer to find a permanent driver, rather than fill out the remainder of the schedule with part-time drivers.
