Pep Boys to Sponsor Marlin's Chevrolet in NASCAR All-Star Event and Coca-Cola 600

PHILADELPHIA -- May 18, 2007 -- The Pep Boys -- Manny, Moe & Jack (NYSE: "PBY"), the nation's leading automotive aftermarket retail and service chain, announced today that it will be the primary sponsor on Sterling Marlin's No. 14 Chevrolet at the upcoming NASCAR Nextel Cup races at Lowe's Motor Speedway near Charlotte.

Pep Boys, an 86-year-old Philadelphia institution with 593 stores and more than 6,000 service bays in 36 states and Puerto Rico, will have its colors showcased on Marlin's Ginn Racing entryin this weekend'sAll-Star event and the May 27 Coca-Cola 600 point race.

"Pep Boys and its 19,000 retail, service, distribution center and support associates are pleased to partner with Ginn Racing and a champion driver like Sterling Marlin," said President and CEO Jeff Rachor. Marlin, a two-time Daytona 500 champion, is coming off his best season finish with a 13th-place showing in the Darlington Cup race last week.

"We're pumped about the direction of our race team," said Marlin. "And having Pep Boys join us makes it even more exciting. The Charlotte track has been good to us in recent visits and we look forward to giving Pep Boys strong performances at the next two races."
