Kurt Busch Wins in Rain-Shortened Race at Loudon

LOUDON, N.H. (June 29, 2008) - Kurt Busch and the Penske Racing No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge team made a good call in the late stages of Sunday's LENOX Industrial Tools 301, keying the team's first NASCAR Sprint Cup win of the 2008 season.

With rains approaching at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, No. 2 car crew chief Pat Tryson and the team made a key decision to keep Busch out on the race track while several of the other leaders headed to pit lane for fuel under a caution flag.

Busch captured the lead of the race on lap 275 and held the point when nine laps later the skies opened up and rain began to soak the track. The checkered flag waved on lap 284 - 17 laps shy of the full distance - with Busch claiming his 18th career Cup victory.

"These guys made an awesome call," Busch said. "Sometimes you just don't win 'em the right way, I think we can honestly say that, but we had a lot of work and a lot of effort put in today and we'll take it."

The victory enabled Busch to jump from 22nd to 18th in the 2008 NASCAR Cup standings.
