"It's been a struggle today, but we made a bunch of changes there before qualifying and the car was much better. We went out early and, obviously, going out early isn't where you want to be, but we were still three-and-a-half tenths faster than we were in practice. I think it will be OK. We're not gonna be as good as we'd like, but we took a big step in the right direction and the car was driving a lot better there. Hopefully we learned something and we can go back and build on it for tomorrow."

ARE THESE LAST 10 RACES TEST SESSIONS FOR YOU TO BUILD TOWARD NEXT YEAR? "We're trying a lot of stuff and we need to be better, so we are trying things that if we were in the chase we wouldn't try. Then again, if we were in the chase we wouldn't have to try different stuff because we would be better. Everybody is working real hard. I still feel like we're going in the right direction as a team. We'd all like for it to happen faster and sometimes it gets frustrating, but everybody is sticking together and I believe we'll get there."

KENNY WALLACE -- No. 88 Snickers Ford Fusion (Qualified 27th)

"We were really kind of confused what to do with our tires, so I told the team to let me put this one on my shoulders, so we went ahead and scuffed the tires in about a lap. I think just the way our chassis was set up, it got more grip in it on the second lap. I needed a little more forward bite up off the corners, but all in all that will be about halfway through the pack. Track position is big here, so that's what we're looking at -- getting the car driving good enough to keep track position."

DO YOU FEEL MORE COMFORTABLE THIS WEEK? YOU WANTED A QUICKER STEERING BOX FOR THIS WEEK. "Yeah, absolutely. Last week I asked them to put a little quicker steering box on from what I felt and then what I know that's going on out there with the development of the car of tomorrow. It seems everybody wants to run a little quicker box, so we had the box go bad. NASCAR let us change it and go later, so we were able to put a new box on. We bought it from Roush Fenway Racing and it drove great. Like everybody else, you always want to go faster."

GREG BIFFLE -- No. 16 Lumber Liquidators Ford Fusion (Qualified 9th)

"This is a definite improvement. When we showed up, we weren't that good and we kept working on it. I thought we were gonna be pretty good in qualifying trim and we were decent. If we can just learn something tomorrow, hopefully there won't be any rain, and we can get some more laps on it so we can understand more about the grip and how to get it to go."

ARE YOU IN TEST MODE WITH THIS CAR FOR THE LAST 5 COT RACES? "Yeah, we've been in test mode with this car ever since it came out because we had a hard time figuring it out and getting up to speed with it. It's coming around though and we'll keep working on it."

JAMIE MCMURRAY -- No. 26 Crown Royal Ford Fusion (Qualified 22nd)

"The track has a lot of grip, but we just didn't make the right adjustments and the car didn't drive very good."
