LOUDON, N.H. -- Elliott Sadler and the Wood Brothers CITGO Ford posted another solid finish Sunday. Sadler ran inside of the top-10 for much of Sunday's race before the event halted on lap 273 due to rain. The rain forced Sadler to a 16th place finish.
"Our pit strategy would have worked perfect if we could have just been fortunate enough for the rain to hold off 15 more minutes," stated crew chief Mike Beam. "We had enough fuel to make it all the way and several cars inside of the top-15 didn't. We had a good run today and I'm looking forward to coming back to Loudon in the Fall."
Quoting Elliott: "If we would have finished under green we had a shot at finishing in the top-10. We know at least five or six of the cars in front of us had stopped earlier and they were gonna have to stop again before the end. We waited to make sure we could go the rest of the way on one stop before we pitted. If the race had ended under green the strategy would have worked. Unfortunately Mother Nature didn't agree but we've had two consecutive finishes inside the top-20. The car is in one piece and we'll go on from here. We think the CITGO Ford ran pretty good most of the day. It was just a little tight, but we think we've got something to work with when we come back to Loudon in September. I'd also like to extend my sympathies to the family, friends and fans of Kenny Irwin. He's in our thoughts and prayers."
