ENGINE PROBLEM ADDS TO MARLIN'S DISAPPOINTMENT IN LAS VEGAS

LAS VEGAS (March 12, 2006)-- An engine failure on Lap 257 of 267 forced Sterling Marlin to retire early from Sunday's UAW-DaimlerChrysler 400 here at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

"Something let go in the motor," said Marlin, who was credited with a 36th-place finish. "My Wiley X Eyewear Chevrolet lost a little power on one lap and the next thing I knew the engine was gone. It's disappointing but Hendrick Motorsports gives us awesome horsepower week after week. Every once in a while you're going to have something like this happen."

"It wasn't a good day for us," continued Marlin. "We kept working on the balance of the Wiley X Chevy -- trying to get it better but we never found the right combination. We'll go back home and roll our sleeves up and get to work-- we'll put our heads together and see what we can figure out."

The next stop on the Nextel Cup circuit will be Atlanta Motor Speedway next Sunday, March 17. The Golden Corral 500 will be broadcast live on FOX beginning at 1 p.m. ET.
