TRAVIS KVAPIL -- No. 28 Yates Racing Ford Fusion (Qualified 30th)

"You don't really know where you're gonna stack up when you go out first, but it felt way better than the way I was earlier today. That would have been a good time in practice, but the track is cooling off. One and two are already in the shade, so it's just gonna get cooler and conditions are gonna get better and the track is gonna pick up speed. It drove OK. We made big gains from where we were earlier and I'm pretty happy with it."

GREG BIFFLE -- No. 16 3M Ford Fusion (Qualified 6th)

"That's the good thing about going out early, you're on the pole. We only had to beat two cars, but the 3M Fusion car has been a handful since we got here. I made two laps and just about crashed it. When we first started practice, I said, 'I can't drive it.' They're just too loose. We're starving for rear grip, so the guys went to work on it and got it better and better and better. We never really made a qualifying run. That was the first time I was actually all taped up and cooled down to make a run, so that's quite a pick up. Now we just have to get it to drive in race trim and we'll be pretty happy."

THE CAR WAS A HANDFUL IN PRACTICE. "Yeah, the guys have done a great job on this 3M Fusion car. We started out really, really loose and couldn't drive it. We kept working on it and never really made a full lap. We aborted every time we tried to make a lap, but, hopefully, going out early won't hurt us too bad. We'll have to wait and see, but that was a great lap. For how we unloaded off the truck to now, that's a great pick up for us."

DAVID GILLILAND -- No. 38 freecreditreport.com Ford Fusion (Qualified 36th)

"We were just too free out there. We made some changes before qualifying. We weren't good enough in practice, so we made some changes and were just too loose. That's kind of opposite of what we've fought with this car forever, which is being too tight. We feel like we've got the front end turning really good and we feel like we'll be able to make some adjustments for race trim that are gonna put us right about where we need to be."

MATT KENSETH -- No. 17 USG Sheetrock Ford Fusion (Qualified 13th)

"It was OK. I was kind of too loose and we lost some practice time. We didn't get to scuff tires and I think that hurt us today, at least it did a little bit for our car. Overall, though, I'm pretty happy with it. It was good for how the day went."

JOHNNY SAUTER -- No. 21 U.S. Air Force Ford Fusion (DNQ)

"It's just one of those deals where it's either go or go home. That's pretty much the essence of the whole deal. To get a call from the Wood Brothers, that's huge in my book. That's something to get excited about and you lose sleep over because you just want to get to the race track and do a good job for them. The car just got away from me a little bit. I was a little high up on the race track and hit the bumps and it got away from me a little bit. That's the idea of go or go home. I was on the gas and didn't want to lift and the car got away from me and I wrecked it. It's just not the way you want to race."

THERE WERE A LOT OF CARS THAT HAD ISSUES TODAY. "Yeah, but the race track was definitely in our favor. It's getting dark outside and the race track had a lot of grip. On my up-to-speed lap, I felt really good going through three and four. I was like, 'This thing has a lot of grip. I'm gonna go down into turn one and get some.' It's just that from my experience, the COT is a pretty finicky car. A little bit here and a little bit there and that goes a long way. We just missed it a little bit and I just hate that I tear up a race car. But at the end of the day, if we could have come around and finished the lap, we'd probably be in the show and that's all that would matter. When the going gets tough the tough get going and you've got to do what you've got to do, I just hate to tear up a car for these guys."

CARL EDWARDS -- No. 99 Dish Network Ford Fusion (Qualified 2nd)

"That's a great lap by Kyle and it was a really good lap for us in our Dish DVR Fusion. It's gonna be a fun race and it's gonna be really good. That will be a good starting spot for us. Hopefully, it will stay in the top three or four and we'll just go race on Sunday, but it was definitely a fun lap."

THIS IS A DIFFERENT CAR FROM CALIFORNIA. "Yeah, we've got great cars. I'm really proud of my guys and everybody for working so hard and making them so good. This is gonna be a fun weekend, I think."
