Las Vegas: Dodge teams qualifying quotes

ELLIOTT SADLER (No. 19 Stanley Tools Dodge Charger) ON QUALIFYING: "I think it was a decent lap. We had to go out early and that's going to hurt us some, but I'm proud of our guys. I think we're going to have a pretty good piece for Sunday. I ...

ELLIOTT SADLER (No. 19 Stanley Tools Dodge Charger)

ON QUALIFYING: "I think it was a decent lap. We had to go out early and that's going to hurt us some, but I'm proud of our guys. I think we're going to have a pretty good piece for Sunday. I didn't run the lap that I really wanted to run, but it'll put us somewhere in the top-20, so that'll be a decent spot for Sunday."

RYAN NEWMAN (No. 12 Alltel Dodge Charger)

ON QUALIFYING: "I under-drove the car. We had a better Alltel Dodge than what we showed, but I would have rather under-drove it than over-drove it when we saw a lot of cars getting crashed today. It's just more rewarding because it feels like if you get off line here you get way off line. We look forward to race trim. I think we'll be more competitive in race trim than we were in qualifying trim."

ROBBY GORDON (No. 7 Jim Beam Dodge Charger)

ON QUALIFYING: "The track changed so much. We just got tight. We got tight right in the middle. I went to go to the gas and had to come back out of it because I shoved the nose. The track just changed so much from the time we got to go compared to when the other guys went. I thought we would have been better than that to be honest with you. It's not going to be a very good starting position for us."

HOW MUCH OF AN IMPACT DO YOU THINK THAT WILL HAVE ON THE 'GO OR GO HOME' GUYS? "Well, it depends on what their car is like. Our car was loose in the sun. If there car was loose in the sun and they didn't do anything about it then they'll be fine. If they were loose in the sun and tightened it up they're going to be tight like we were."

KURT BUSCH (No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge Charger)

ON QUALIFYING: "We had an interesting day. We started off very loose and got the car tight at one point. We've just got that mind set just to take our time and do all of our things properly because we have the champion's provisional to fall on, but it's nice to bump up from where we've been lately. From 43rd to 36th to a top-10 now. It's just an interesting day here for the Miller Lite Dodge in Vegas. We're just trying to sort out the tire."

THOUGHTS ON THE NEW QUALIFYING FORMAT: "I thought it was exciting. I think it drags quite a bit of drama into the final few moments of qualifying, and you see guys like the No. 78, the No. 49, No. 44, No. 55, the Red Bull cars even the No. 27 and No. 34. It gives them that drama. It makes them feel even more powerful, it gives them that spotlight -- I think that's the word that I'm looking for, and trying to make the race. For us, we're kind of just the one with a sheet over the car with the champion's provisional, but we want to race our way in and give opportunities for other guys to race."

REED SORENSON (No. 41 Target Dodge Charger)

ON QUALIFYING: "I think our whole team isn't feeling very good right now. We qualified right where we practiced. We haven't been where we want since we've been here".

JUAN PABLO MONTOYA (No. 42 Texaco/Havoline Dodge Charger) --

ON QUALIFYING: "At California, we struggled in practice and went to the race and ran good. Here, it's been the opposite. The accident put us behind. We'll try to make the car better tomorrow".

***

KASEY KAHNE (No. 9 Budweiser Dodge Charger) --

ON QUALIFYING: "The car was pretty good. I just didn't get in the lap we needed. The crew did a good job getting the car ready for qualifying after brushing the wall in practice. We would have liked to qualify better, but we have a couple of practice sessions tomorrow to get the car ready for the race."

BOBBY LABONTE (No. 43 Cheerios/Helping Hearts Dodge) --

ON QUALIFYING: "The past eight hours has been trying for all of us here. I believe we're going to be a lot better than we were last weekend. We didn't' unload right, but we definitely got better real quick and then I messed up and we had to bring out our backup car. Unless we can do everything just right, you're not going to qualify up front. Maybe we could have if I had a little more confidence in it, but I just didn't have the confidence in it. I'm way more encouraged about practice tomorrow than the whole weekend at California."
