Coca-Cola drivers to meet fans
LAS VEGAS (March 4, 1999) NASCAR fans will have an opportunity to race in for refreshment when three members of the "Coca-Cola Racing Family" participate in a meet and greet session.
Fans will have the opportunity to meet NASCAR Winston Cup Series drivers Kyle Petty, Jeff Burton and Steve Park in front of The World of Coca-Cola Las Vegas, located at Showcase, next to the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino on Las Vegas Boulevard on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. PT. All three drivers are competing in Sunday's NASCAR Winston Cup Series Las Vegas 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Coca-Cola Classic is the "Official Soft Drink" of NASCAR, and Petty, Burton and Park are members of the Coca-Cola Racing Family, which also includes Dale Earnhardt, Dale Jarrett, Bill Elliott and other famous drivers. In conjunction with the free event, Earnhardt's Coca-Cola show car will be on display at The World of Coca-Cola from Thursday through Saturday.
The red Coca-Cola Harley-Davidsons and a "Coke Refreshment Crew" will also appear at Friday's event. The Refreshment Crew consists of a Coke-red pickup truck staffed by a "pit crew" that conducts interactive games with the public and distributes free Coke products and merchandise while supplies last.
Veteran race announcer Mark Garrow will act as master of ceremonies. Fans can test their driving skills on race simulators and also register to win Coke/NASCAR merchandise and/or tickets to this weekend's NASCAR Busch Series Grand National Division and NASCAR Winston Cup Series races.
Merchandise and ticket winners will be announced at the event and must be present to win.
The Coca-Cola Company and its bottling partners have been involved with NASCAR for over 30 years, and in January of 1998 Coca-Cola Classic became the "Official Soft Drink of NASCAR."
The World of Coca-Cola opens daily at 10 a.m. with a $3.50 admission charge to the attraction. Children ages three and under receive free admission.
