CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Kevin Lepage, majority owner of Matrix Motorsports announced a sponsorship deal with State Fair Brand Corn Dogs today for competition in the NASCAR Busch Series. Lepage and team co-owner Steve Plattenberger will field the No. 71 State Fair Brand Corn Dog Taurus at Bristol and Homestead this season. They have plans to run 12 to 15 races in 2001. "In the short time that I've been associated with the people at State Fair Brand Corn Dogs, we've had a great time," Lepage said. "We hope to have a lot of success on the track, but regardless, we're going to have some fun." "We're very excited about our association with Kevin Lepage, Steve Plattenberger and Matrix Motorsports," Tim McClearn, Vice-President of Retail Sales and Marketing said. "We fell that this partnership will add to our existing marketing program as the Official Corn Dog of NASCAR, as well as take us into new markets with an even broader fan base." Matrix Motorsports was formed earlier this year, and has entered the No. 71 Red Man Taurus in several NASCAR Busch Series events this year. Lepage will continue to drive the No. 71, with partner Plattenberger filling the role of crew chief. "As a driver, you never know when you're driving career will end, so I wanted to establish something for retirement," Lepage said. "The Busch Series is a great place to be. With Matrix Motorsports, I can stay involved throughout the future." "Steve and I put the word out this year in the garage that we were looking for a multi-year sponsorship for a Busch team. State Fair Brand Corn Dogs came to us, and we're looking forward to a long, successful relationship." Lepage, who also drives the No. 16 Fords for Roush Racing in the Winston Cup Series, has recorded two wins (at Bristol and Homestead) and one pole in the Busch Series. Plattenberger, a veteran crew chief, has served with several Busch Series team, including ST Motorsports.
