DENVER, Colo. (Sept. 29, 2010) -- It doesn't matter to Regan Smith that he has had limited experience at Kansas Speedway, site of Sunday's Price Chopper 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup race.

The 27-year-old driver out of the Furniture Row Racing camp has one Cup start at the 1.5-mile oval, and that was in 2008, the same year he was awarded rookie of the year honors.

"I haven't run a lot of laps at Kansas, but I still expect our Furniture Row Chevrolet to be strong there," said Smith. "A mile-in-a-half track with a flatter surface like Kansas suits our program. I expect good things this weekend. The track is a close twin to Chicagoland Speedway and we had a good night there back in July."

Smith and the Denver, Colo.-based Furniture Row Racing team are seeing progress as they continue their quest for more performance jumps.

"Improvement is a slow process but we're seeing gains," noted Smith. "We're by far a better team than when we started the 2010 season. Some unforced errors have cost us -- like my two speeding penalties last week Dover -- but overall we feel that we have graduated to a new level. With that said, we still have a ways to go before you'll see big smiles on our faces. Joe Garone (general manager), Pete Rondeau (crew chief) and Mark McArdle (competition director) know what it takes and the good news is that we're on the right path."

The last time Smith was on a mile-in-a-half track was Atlanta (Sept. 5) and he posted a 17th-place finish.

"We're at a top-20 range right now but want to lower that to top-15 team finishes," stated Smith. "A mistake-free weekend in Kansas might just give us the finish we've been looking for recently."
