BEHIND THE HAULER CHAT WITH KYLE BUSCH, NO. 5 KELLOGG'S MONTE CARLO SS:
ON HIS FOCUS FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE SEASON: "Our Chase for the Championship is pretty much off but there are shots for us to go out and have good weeks to still try to win the championship but, I am a realist. I am just going to say that is we go out there and do the best we can every week, that is the only way we are going to put ourselves back in to it.
ON TALLADEGA: "I don't really race restrictor plate races any different any weekend anyway. Anytime you go into that, if you have a good car and you have people that will work with you, it's pretty easy to run up front or to try to stay up front or something like that. So the biggest thing for us is just to go into that race and make sure we stay smooth and steady. We don't want to cause anything or do anything stupid."
IS TALLADEGA A WILD CARD RACE? "It's too hard to know or anything like that. There's going to be different variables from what we know and what's gone on there in the past."
CAN YOU WIN AT TALLADEGA? "Yeah, anywhere. We feel like we can win these final eight races. It's just a matter of doing it."
WHAT HAVE YOU HEARD ABOUT THE NEW PAVEMENT AT TALLADEGA? "I haven't heard anything other than it's fresh pavement and it's pretty smooth. That's about it."
ON RACE STRATEGY AT KANSAS: Go out and try and win; that is about all we can try and do. We just have to go out and to the best we can to put ourselves in the right position in order to win the race."
ON SAVING FUEL: "It is in nobody's hands. When you are trying to conserve fuel, it is pretty much all on luck. You try to roll out of the gas early and be smooth getting back to it. You will probably save a drop here or there, but nothing that is going to make a big difference.
"It is better to know so you can try. It is always worth trying. I think four times in my career, I have tried, but I didn't make it on three of them. I don't think it necessarily matters; that is why I say that.
"It depends on the scenario. If you are short by three laps with 60 laps to go and you go green the rest of the way, if you start saving, you will go for it. But if you are short five laps, if there is no other way but to stop, you might as well come in early and then go for it."
