TEAM CHEVY CAPTURES FIVE OF TOP-10 STARTING POSITIONS FOR BANQUET 400 AT KANSAS SPEEDWAY
JIMMIE JOHNSON, NO. 48 LOWE'S MONTE CARLO SS, WILL START THIRD SUNDAY
Jimmie Johnson, No. 48 Lowe's Monte Carlo SS led five Team Chevy drivers to top-10 starting positions for Sunday's Banquet 400 at Kansas Speedway.
Johnson will start third with Hendrick Motorsports teammate, Brian Vickers, No. 25 Garnier/GMAC Monte Carlo SS, along side on the outside of row two.
Raybestos Rookie contenders J.J. Yeley, NO. 18 Interstate BAtteries Monte CArlo SS and Clint Bowyer, No. 07 Jack Daniel's Monte CArlo SS will make up row three, in the fifth and sixth starting spots.
Current NASCAR Nextel Cup Series points leader, Jeff Burton, No. 31 Cingular Wireless Monte Carlo SS, qualified 10th to start on the outside of row five.
The remaining Team Chevy Chase for the NASCAR NExtel Cup contenders qualified as follows: Jeff Gordon, No. 24 DuPont Monte Carlo SS will start 11th; Dale Earnhardt, Jr., No. 8 Budweiser Monte Carlo SS qualified 12th; Kyle Busch, No. 5 Kellogg's Monte Carlo SS will roll of 13th; Kevin Harvick, No. 29 Reese's Monte Carlo SS will start 14th and Denny Hamlin, No. 11 FedEX Freight Monte Carlo SS qualified in the 2th starting position.
The Banquet 400 is scheduled to start Sunday, October 1, 2006 at 1:10 p.m. C.D.T. Live television coverage on NBC will begin at 12:30 p.m. C.D.T. MRN Radio and XM Satelitte Radio will carry the live action over the airwaves.
