"We'll just have to see. I think it's going to slow up a little bit, but it's slower now than it was in practice. We'll just see. We fought a couple of things and tried to get the Motorcraft car a little faster. I think we'll make some good gains tomorrow."
YOU WENT OUT FIRST TODAY. IS THAT AN ADVANTAGE OR DISADVANTAGE HERE? "I would say a disadvantage, and not night and day because it's not going to change a whole lot, and it's not like the track sat for a long time."
CARL EDWARDS -- No. 99 Office Depot Ford Fusion (qualified 27th)
"That thing would run good over at Lakeside tonight. It was a little bit loose. We weren't really sure what it was going to do, it wasn't that great in qualifying trim in practice, but I'm pretty happy with the lap. For as loose as it was, I don't think if I had it to do over again 10 times I don't think I could've gone any faster. I just appreciate everybody coming out here today to watch qualifying, and hopefully we'll get to go over to the dirt track tonight and have some fun. But, I think this thing is going to run great on Sunday."
JAMIE McMURRAY -- No. 26 Crown Royal Ford Fusion (qualified 20th)
"The car was little bit too tight there, but we haven't qualified very well at these kinds of places. I'm excited to be here in front of all the Missouri and Kansas race fans -- I grew up not very far from here, so this is a fun environment for me to get to race in."
EVERYBODY ELSE HAS BEEN SAYING THAT THEIR CAR IS LOOSE, BUT YOURS WAS TIGHT. "Well, you just have what you have. I was a little bit loose in, but for the most part, just too tight center off, and we fought that in practice a little bit and every time we tried to make it better the car slowed down. So, made good adjustments for qualifying this weekend."
DAVID RAGAN -- No. 6 AAA Insurance Ford Fusion (qualified 18th)
That was a good lap. I knew that in practice you've got guys that unload in qualifying trim, and as the track gets hotter, as the day goes on, the track is going to slow down a little bit, so it's tough to back up in the end of practice what those guys ran in the beginning. So, we looked really bad on the sheet all practice long, but I felt like our AAA Ford Fusion was driving pretty decent. Our normal deal -- we did 99 percent of practice in race runs, and then throw our qualifying setup in it the last minute, and certainly very pleased with that lap. A lot of guys are slowing down, we picked up a little bit. It always helps to qualify up there in the top 15, top 20, and we'll go race them on Sunday."
DID THE DRAW HELP YOU? "Oh, yeah. The draw helped us a little bit. We were right there in the middle. I think the track temperature was 108 when qualifying started, it was 107 w hen we went out. A lot of times that just plays with your mind. It probably helps us in our mind more than it really helps us in anything else."
DAVID GILLILAND -- No. 38 M&M's Ford Fusion (qualified 22nd)
"We're happy with that. We made some changes; we weren't real happy with our car in practice, and Todd [Parrott, crew chief] and all the guys made some adjustments on our M&M's Ford Fusion, and made it better. It felt like we were better, just still a little on the tight side. We definitely feel like we took a step in the right direction, and I think that will put us somewhere in the middle of the field for Sunday's race. So, not too bad. We picked up from practice, for sure."
MATT KENSETH -- No. 17 DeWalt Ford Fusion (qualified 2nd)
"It was a good lap. Robbie [Reiser, crew chief] and Chip [Bolin, engineer] and all these guys on the DeWalt team have been doing a great job, and made some good adjustments for qualifying. We were just a little bit tight, but that was a really good lap for us. We got a good draw, too, but that'll be a good spot to start for Sunday."
GREG BIFFLE -- No. 16 Aflac Ford Fusion (qualified 7th)
"The car was way better than that. I got into turn one and slid the nose in the middle a little bit -- it was just a little bit tight -- and I went back to the gas fairly early and we got to pushing. I wasn't sure whether to put it down or not, and I had to lift late so it cost me a lot of momentum. I probably had a car that could be maybe on the front row, I don't even know. But, then I left a little on the table down here, just to make sure I didn't slide up in the center and just waited way too long to go back to the gas. So, it was a good lap for us and I know we've got a good car for race trim."
