Bobby Labonte wrecked during the second of Saturday morning's Winston Cup practice sessions and will be forced to switch to a backup car. The car he will race on Sunday at Kansas Speedway has run two events in 2002: the first at California Speedway and the second at Michigan International Speedway in June.

BOBBY LABONTE, NO. 18 INTERSTATE BATTERIES PONTIAC GRAND PRIX:

ON THE WRECK

"The car was just too loose to start with and I stuck with it, which was my fault. But, in the first practice we were too tight, so we made a few changes. Sticker tires just aren't very good for me. I hate it for all the guys. We've just not been doing very good here lately - especially today - and ruined a race car."

WERE YOU FULL-THROTTLE DURING THE SPIN, TRYING TO GET IT TO TURN AROUND?

"Yeah, I probably should have gotten out of it at one point in time there. But, I stayed in it, trying to get it down. But, it didn't work out, so we'll have to go see what we've got left."
