ANDRETTI BACK AT INDY WITH IMS RADIO NETWORK
John Andretti to Lend Voice to IMS Radio Network
Veteran Indy Racer Competed in 2007 Indianapolis 500
Davidson, N.C. (July 24, 2007) -- NASCAR and IRL driver John Andretti will join the IMS Radio Network as a broadcaster this Sunday for the Allstate 400 at the 2.5-mile Indianapolis (Ind.) Motor Speedway.
The Andretti name is synonymous with the Indianapolis (Ind.) Motor Speedway. Andretti, born in Pennsylvania, moved to Indianapolis and went to high school only miles from the speedway. In 1994, he made history by becoming the first driver to complete the Memorial Day "double" competing in the Indianapolis 500 and the Coca-Cola 600 on the same day. Andretti made his return to the Indianapolis 500 this year.
"It is an honor to be coming back to IMS Radio for the Allstate 400 at the speedway," said Andretti. "I have been going to Indianapolis for a long time. This place means a lot to me and my family. In my mind, this is no other track as special as Indy and the IMS Radio network gives it that special voice. I'm looking forward to the opportunity."
Andretti, who recently completed a four race stretch in the No. 45 Dodge for Petty Enterprises, competed in this year's Indianapolis 500 after a 13 year hiatus for Panther Racing and sponsor Camping World. He is, again, looking forward to coming back to Indy this season.
"Any time you go to the 'speedway' it is fun," sounded Andretti. "This is a good opportunity to come back. Broadcasting on IMS is a cool opportunity. It gives you a different perspective on the race. I like to think that my experience at Indy helps me in the broadcast booth."
IMS Radio coverage of the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard begins at 1:00 p.m. ET.
