GREENSBORO, N.C. (October 1, 1999) --- Andy Petree Racing and Oakwood Homes announced today that Joe Nemechek has been named as driver of the No. 33 Chevrolet for the 2000 and 2001 NASCAR Winston Cup race seasons. "We are pleased that Joe Nemechek will be joining our team next season," said team owner Andy Petree. "We know we have a team capable of winning and feel like Joe will help take our program to the next level. He runs well on a variety of tracks and really has the desire to win. We needed someone who would work well for our team and for Oakwood as well. We've got that with Joe and we're excited to move forward." Looking ahead to his seventh Winston Cup season, Nemechek hopes the new millennium will bring more victories and continued success. "This is a great opportunity and I'm really looking forward to working with everyone at Andy Petree Racing and Oakwood Homes," stated Nemechek. "Andy has put together a solid team, and after talking with him and discussing future plans, we feel like we will be a top-five contender. This team runs well everywhere they go and they have an exceptional speedway program. That is a key component to running competitively." For Oakwood Homes, the 2000 season will mark their first year as a primary sponsor in the Winston Cup Series. With Petree calling the shots and Nemechek at the wheel, the team is poised to deliver an exceptional year for the rookie sponsor. "We have worked with Andy Petree Racing for the last year and a half and they are a strong, competitive team that we are privileged to be paired with," said Bill Edwards, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Oakwood Homes. "While we will continue our affiliation with the Schrader family, we are very excited about establishing a relationship with Joe and his family. He is a talented driver and we're proud to have him as a representative of Oakwood Homes. "Oakwood has initiated a distinctive brand image campaign of which NASCAR is an integral piece. We remain committed to racing and its loyal fans. We continue to believe that NASCAR provides a great opportunity for us to increase consumer awareness and visibility of our Oakwood Homes brand." Nemechek's Winston Cup career accomplishments include one win, three poles, four top-five and 16 top-10 finishes. His most recent milestone was a victory in the Jiffy Lube 300 at New Hampshire International Speedway on September 19, 1999. Nemechek will finish out the remainder of this season with Team Sabco, where he has raced since 1997.
