Jeff Burton in the No. 99 Roush Ford posted the fastest lap in Winston Cup final practice at Richmond. Burton's lap of 125.006 mph was up from his time trial time of 124.942 mph; which qualified Burton seventh for Saturday night's 400-miler.

Burton, who has had a spotty season thus far, has a record of ten top-10 finishes in 18 races at the ¾ mile track.

Jeff Gordon was second fastest followed by teammate Jimmie Johnson in third. Joe Nemechek, who learned earlier this week that he will loose his seat to young-gun Brian Vickers next year, rolls off fourth.

"The UAW-Delphi Chevrolet is running strong," said Nemechek. "It drove good in practice, and drove good in qualifying."

Greg Biffle -- the races outside pole-sitter, was fifth fastest with a lap of 123.876 mph. Biffle ran almost two-miles slower than his hot lap during qualifying of 125.646 mph.

Pole sitter Mike Skinner did not participate in happy hour after wrecking his primary and back-up car in two separate practice crashes. Skinner will start from the rear of the field Saturday in a third Pontiac which being shipped in from the team shop in North Carolina. Altogether, Skinner has ran a total of thirteen laps all day, 2 qualifying, six in the day's first practice and five in the second session.

"We get three warm-up laps before we start tomorrow," joked Skinner. "Are those going to count?"
