Images released of race cars destroyed in shop fire

Leavine Family Racing lost four cars in the blaze.

Last Friday morning before the NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Kansas Speedway, reports emerged that a fire had consumed the Leavine Family Racing shop. No one was injured, but the damage was significant.

The single-car operation went on to finish 31st with Michael McDowell in the Kansas race.

We now have images from inside the damaged North Carolina shop, courtesy of the team. Four cars were destroyed, which is essentially half of their fleet. Officials from the team said, "We do not anticipate this to impact the team's competition schedule. Our next race is the Showdown at Charlotte Motor Speedway."

"Four race cars were damaged in the fire - these were primarily back-up cars.  A complete investigation is taking place to access the overall damage and cause of the fire.”
