Menard Eager to End 2008 Season on a High Note

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (Nov. 12, 2008) -- Paul Menard enters the final race of the 2008 NASCAR Sprint Cup season with his sights set on finishing his time with Dale Earnhardt Inc. on a high note.

It will be Menard's last race for DEI, a company that has provided more than four years of racing support to the sophomore driver, and Menard hopes to finish his tenure with the company by turning in a solid finish in Sunday's race.

"We always want to run up front, but there's definitely some extra motivation to put on a good show in my last start for DEI," Menard said. "My overall goal is to end the season on a high note and to do that we'll need to keep up with the track and be good at the end of the race when it gets dark."

Menard has been a fan of Homestead-Miami Speedway since his first visit to the track in 2004. In three NASCAR Nationwide Series starts at the track, Menard has two top-five finishes including a third place effort in 2006. His best finish in a Cup car, a 17th place effort, also came in 2006.

"It's a true oval, both ends are symmetric," Menard explained of the 1.5-mile track. "It's one of only a few true oval tracks that we go to. The banking is similar to Chicagoland or Las Vegas, the biggest difference being that you're in the corner so much longer.

"The progressive banking is pretty cool, though, you can run where ever your car is working and with never having been here with the COT car before, could be anywhere."

The No. 15 Menards/Johns Manville team will race DEI chassis #073 this weekend. The car was last run at Texas Motor Speedway where Menard qualified 11th and finished 22nd.
