ELLIOTT SADLER - No. 38 M&M's Taurus - "We made a lot of changes before qualifying and didn't really hit on anything. We're just very, very tight. We're struggling with it and really don't know what to do to try to get it out, so we've got a lot of work ahead of us. We're climbing uphill right now and we'll try to make some changes and make it better for Sunday."
SO THE TEST DAY WAS BASICALLY FOR RACE RUNS? "Yeah, that's all we did was race runs and we're struggling with that too. Like I said, we've got a lot of work to do."
MATT KENSETH - No. 17 DEWALT Power Tools Taurus - WHAT DID THAT LAP MEAN? "It still means something. I mean, the lap sucked. You never want to start in the back. This is still a real important race and even though the championship is over and that feels really good, we still need to come to the race track to race and we still need to come to the race track and try to run good and win the race. We're off to a real bad start. We just can't seem to get the car to turn for some reason and none of us can figure out how to fix it."
HOW IS THE TRACK? "My car is just real tight. It wouldn't turn. I didn't really lose grip, I just couldn't get my car to turn. The race track is really, really awesome. They did a great job down here at Homestead making a race track that will put on a great race. It's fun to drive on and it's gonna be a great race for the fans."
TODD BODINE - No. 54 National Guard Taurus - "That's pretty bad. We've been struggling with pushing in the middle of the corner. We made a change for qualifying and all it did was make it loose off. That didn't really free it up in the middle at all, so that's definitely a lot slower than what we practiced."
JEFF BURTON - No. 99 CITGO Taurus - "This has been a tremendous struggle today. It hasn't been from a lack of effort. We've been working really hard, but this is the weak point of our program - big track qualifying. We're just weak there right now and we're gonna spend a lot of time this winter on making that better. We've got to make improvements in that and we will."
DALE JARRETT - No. 88 UPS Taurus - "I was telling the guys that I probably left a little bit on the table the first lap in turns one and two simply because that was the best the car had stuck and felt. I drove it in a little further, but I could have done it even more than that and let the car roll and picked up the throttle a little quicker. The changes they made were very good to the car. Hopefully, that will translate into race type conditions and we can be a little bit better because we've struggled here for two days. As has been the case for 35 races, these guys don't give up trying. It's just that we've found a lot more that doesn't work than what does, but we're still after it and we'll see what we can do for Sunday."
KURT BUSCH - No. 97 Rubbermaid Taurus - "It's the last race of the year and we were kind of going for the pole that's alluded us all year. It's all right though, the Rubbermaid team has done a swell job all year as far as when we unload. If we're good or bad, we end up with a decent qualifying effort. I think we took one provisional this year and that was at a Talladega plate track and was nothing of our doing. It was a good year for qualifying. On the first lap today, we were tight getting into one so I adjusted for that and on the second lap we got loose getting into one. The tires had gone through whatever they were gonna go through in that 30 seconds and I just overcompensated getting into turn one and got loose."
THIS TRACK SEEMS MADE FOR YOU. "I hope it turns out that way. We need a solid effort to put us in the top 10 in points, so that Rubbermaid can go up on stage in December."
