Kasey Kahne (No. 9 Budweiser Dodge Charger) Finished 6th
"A great result for our Budweiser Dodge tonight. They crew guys did a great job and Kenny (Francis, Team Director) made a great call to get us track position and give us a top 10. We didn't have the fastest car during the heat of the day, but once the sun went down and the track tightened up, we seemed to get faster and faster. To get a top-10 at Homestead at the last race of the season is a great way to end the year."
TALK ABOUT THE OFF-SEASON AND WHAT WILL BE THE FOCUS FOR NEXT SEASON?
"We've got some work to do heading into next year. I don't think that we're far off when you look at some of the other cars that are out here; I really don't think that they're a whole lot faster than our Budweiser Dodge. We have to keep working on our car and try to make it better....faster. If we can find a way to make the front-end of our cars better, I think that we'll close the gap on the teams competing for the championship."
AJ Allmendinger (No. 10 Valvoline Dodge Charger) Finished 11th
"It was good night finishing 11th (best finish of the season for the No. 10 Dodge from GEM), but it was a long hard-fought night. We started off loose, but the car got tight as night fell. We could never get that out of it. At the end there, I think we saved too much fuel. They (the crew) were a little nervous making sure I was going to make it. I probably could have gone a little earlier and got a couple more spots. Overall, from where we started and the kind of weekend we had, tonight was great. Everybody at Gillett Evernham does a good job. They build good cars. Hopefully, this relationship can continue next year."
Ryan Newman (No. 12 Alltel Dodge Charger) Finished 21st
"The way that we ran tonight, I'm glad that the season is over. Despite our run tonight, I'm very, very grateful for the opportunity that Roger (Penske) has given me over the last several years. The friendships and relationships that I've made over the last several years are priceless. To win the Daytona 500 for Roger is something that I'll never forget. Our year ended in a struggle, but my entire Alltel Dodge team fought every race to get the best finish that we could. I want to wish Kurt (Busch) and Sam (Hornish Jr.) and all the guys the best as I transition into a new race team."
Robby Gordon (No. 7 Jim Beam Dodge Charger) Finished 26th
"We came back alive. I guess we're 34th in points, we're pretty happy about that. If there was anything good about the weekend, that was it. We did OK in qualifying, but we weren't that good at other times. We've got work to do over the winter time, but we don't have to stress about our speedway program. We scored the second most points on speedways. Our weakness is the mile and under and then the mile-and-half track. I think 2009 will be a good year for us."
Bobby Labonte (No. 43 Liberty Medical Dodge Charger) Finished 33rd
"We could not find any consistency with the chassis today. One run would be 'loose' and the next would be 'tight.' The car just wasn't in the track. We were hoping for a better finish heading into the winter, but I'm proud of how hard everyone worked today. My pit crew has been solid all year and they were again today. Now we'll start getting ready for Daytona because that will be here before we know it."
"Congratulations to Jimmie and the No. 48 team on their third straight championship," continued Labonte. "I was lucky enough to win a championship and I know how hard it is to repeat. They are on top of their game right now."
Chad McCumbee (No. 45 Marathon American Sprit Motor Oil Dodge Charger) Finished 39th
"I'm still learning these cars. They definitely react to adjustments differently than the trucks. We made a one pound air pressure adjustment to fix the 'tight' and that made it just super 'loose' and it never really came back. I can't figure that out because that's not a big adjustment. But I've had a lot of fun with these guys this year. I have to thank everyone at Petty Enterprises for giving me this opportunity."
Kurt Busch (No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge Charger) Finished 43rd
"I guess the best thing to say is that I'm so glad the 2008 season is now officially over. We had a month's worth of problems out there in just this one race. We were super tight and got a lap down early. NASCAR got us for speeding down pit lane and had to make a pass through, but managed to stay only a lap down. We pitted and on pit exit, the 84 car rubbed us really bad and caused some damage to the left front. We ended up cutting down a tire and put it into the fence. We ended up losing third gear and our race and season is over. Congratulations to Jimmie (Johnson) and Chad (Knaus) on winning the NASCAR Sprint Cup championship. They had a great year and are well-deserved champions."
