Allmendinger and Valvoline Team Look to Sunny Miami for Season Finale
STATESVILLE, N.C. -- AJ Allmendinger and the Valvoline team have been riding high since the 26-year-old climbed behind the wheel of the No. 10 at Martinsville on Oct. 19.
* Allmendinger and the Valvoline team scored 439 points over the past four races -- the 15th most of any driver.
* He is one of only four drivers not in the Chase for the Championship ranked inside the top-15.
"I really want to have a good finish for this whole Valvoline team and GEM," Allmendinger said. "They've been great to work with over the past few weeks and we're looking to get them their first top 10 of the season."
The California native has yet to start a Sprint Cup race at Homestead-Miami but has a best finish of 21st in the Nationwide Series. The Valvoline team looks to improve on its season best finish of 14th [Daytona, Atlanta].
"Homestead is a little bitter sweet for me and this Valvoline team. We're looking forward to going down there and getting another strong run but it's also our last race together. I've worked really well with this team and Gillett Evernham Motorsports and think we've had some good showings over the past couple weeks.
"Last weekend we had a decent day going with our Valvoline Dodge. We had great pit stops all day. The guys did a good job keeping up with the track. I was hoping to improve on our best finish but we got taken out there at the end.
"Any driver will tell you how important it is to end the season on a good note. That's why, for us, Homestead is so important. It's a race that you 're forced to remember through the off season and I want it to be a good memory. We know our Valvoline team is capable of top 15 finishes, now it's time to focus on a top 10."
Chassis info: The No. 10 crew will bring chassis No. 254. Backup is 218.
Allmendinger's Season: In 26 starts, has led nine laps and earned two top-10 and eight top-15 finishes. Two of the top-15 finishes came with GEM.
