All four drivers were present for the test.
With the Chase closing in, NASCAR's most powerful team decided to test at Martinsville Speedway. The short track plays hosts to the opening event of the 'Eliminator Round.'
All four drivers were present for the test and made laps at the paperclip. On the test, Jeff Gordon said, "You want to give yourself every opportunity to win at every race that’s in the Chase to guarantee yourself moving forward. We know that Martinsville is a great track for us. I think all of Hendrick Motorsports understands that we’ve had great success here and we have confidence here and we can run really well here, and it’s important. It’s in the Chase.”
Some are baffled at the decision to use up a valuable test at a track the team has dominated at in the past. Hendrick has a record 21 victories here, taking the checkered flag in three of the last four races as well.
Gordon, along with Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Jimmie Johnson, have eached earned three wins so far this season and have locked themselves into the Chase. Kasey Kahne, on the other hand, is still searching for win number one and time is running out.
