The GM Goodwrench Service Plus team have started the 2000 NASCAR season with some impressive numbers. Including the only team to have nine top-10 finishes in the first 12 Winston Cup events on the schedule. Another is that Dale Earnhardt has lead 124 laps in seven different races in 2000. At this same point in 1999 the black No. 3 Monte Carlo had only been to the front for 72 laps in two races and they lead only seven times for the entire 1999 season.
Earnhardt and the GM Goodwrench Service Plus crew like the summer stretch in the NASCAR schedule. For the months of June, July and August in 1999 the No. 3 posted one win, three top-fives, and eight top-10 finishes in the 12 races that make up the summer stretch through Labor Day.

Although it was in 1993 that Dale Earnhardt made his last visit to winners circle at the Monster Mile. The seven-time champion has six top-fives and seven top-10 finishes in the 13 races sine 1993.
"We want to have a good Friday," stated Crew chief Kevin Hamlin. "It's been a struggle at Dover when it comes to starting positions. It's a long race and things happen very quick. If we can get the car to stick and not slip and slide on the cement then we'll be OK come race day."
"I like when the track gets hot and slick," commented Dale Earnhardt. "it becomes more than just a race of man and machine it becomes a mind game as well. Some of these new guys haven't experienced four or five hours in a car at 130 degrees. It can play on you. You forget to save your equipment and make mistakes that can cost you."
