NOTES:

Stat Facts ... In nine NASCAR Sprint Cup Series starts at Auto Club Speedway, Scott Riggs has a seventh-place finish to call a career-best. The Bahama, N.C., native has a 17th-place starting average coupled with a 24.89 finishing average.

Sixth Sense ... The 2009 season marks Riggs' sixth season in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. In 167 starts the 38-year-old driver has scored three poles, four top-five and 16 top-10 finishes. Additionally, he has earned just over $17 million in winnings.

SCOTT RIGGS:

How tough is Auto Club Speedway on engines?

"California is probably one of the toughest places on engines. The race is 500 miles, so it creates a challenge for the engine builders. You have to have a car that handles well, but the power and the reliability factor is very important. The engine has to stay together in order to compete for a win."

What type of racing do you expect to see at California?

"I think you are going to see multi-groove racing. The high groove will come in at some point. I think the cars that can handle all over the race track will be able to compete for the win at the end of the race."

How was your first weekend with Tommy Baldwin Racing?

"I think we had a pretty productive weekend in Daytona. We didn't finish where we wanted, but we made the race and we survived. Tommy (Baldwin) and the guys did a great job getting the car ready in just a few weeks. Tommy is probably the most experienced crew chief that I have ever worked with, and I can't wait to work with him the rest of the year."
