Qualifying is Key for BAM Racing in Next Four Races ... Many predict that qualifying for NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series events this season will be the most competitive the sport has ever seen. For smaller teams vying for position in the top-35 in the owner points standings, the next four events are crucial to a successful season. After missing the field for the Daytona 500 by one-hundreth of a second, Bliss and the BAM Racing team are not deterred heading into California.

"We were disappointed to miss the Daytona 500," commented team owner Beth Ann Morgenthau. "Hopefully our performance in the Gatorade Duel 150 demonstrated the caliber of our team. We have made improvements and enhancements across the board to our program. We also have a driver who is a true racer. It would be a mistake to underestimate our team in the next four events."

Bliss a Factor at Intermediate Tracks Like California Speedway ... Bliss is always a factor at intermediate tracks such as California Speedway. In 37 starts at intermediate tracks, Bliss has an average start of 24.3 and an average finish of 27.9. The team is bringing chassis #28 which is the same car that Bliss ran at Lowe's Motor Speedway last October. He qualified on time for that race capturing a 24th place start.

"I enjoy racing at tracks like California, Las Vegas and Atlanta," said Bliss. "My last win came at Atlanta and I seem to qualify and run well at intermediate tracks. I have one win, one pole award, two top-five and five top-10 finishes at California Speedway in just five starts in the Craftsman Truck Series. I guess you could say this is one of my better tracks."

BAM Racing at California Speedway ... BAM Racing has eight starts at the 2.0-mile D-shaped oval. The team has a track-best starting position of 32nd (05/02/04) with an average start of 38.2. BAM Racing has one top-15 and one top-20 finish at the speedway with a track-best finish of 14th (02/27/05) and an average finish of 30.4.
