Michael "Fatback" McSwain, crew chief for the No. 21 U.S. Air Force Ford Fusion driven by Ken Schrader, is not with the team this weekend as he tends to business back at the shop in North Carolina. Team co-owner Eddie Wood spoke about McSwain's absence prior to Saturday's practice.

EDDIE WOOD, Co-Owner -- No. 21 U.S. Air Force Ford Fusion

"This weekend Fatback stayed back to get ready for Richmond and Loudon and help our short track stuff. Ernie Cope is the crew chief this weekend, so we're just going on with business as usual."

IS THIS AN INDICATION OF WHAT TEAMS MIGHT DO WHEN THEY'RE NO LONGER IN THE CHASE SCENARIO? IS THIS A WAY OF PREPARING FOR '07? "Yes, in a roundabout way. It wasn't something we really planned in advance, but it just kind of worked out that way. Ernie has been helping Fatback since he came back and since Fatback had some stuff to do, it's a no-brainer to have Ernie fill in. Ernie is an experienced crew chief in his own right, so it's business as usual."
