Marcos Ambrose, driver of the No. 59 Kingsford Charcoal Ford Fusion, will be racing for the first time on his birthday when he takes the track for Saturday's Camping World 300. Ambrose, who will turn 31 tomorrow, spoke briefly about the California Speedway and turning another year older.

MARCOS AMBROSE -- No. 59 Kingsford Charcoal Ford Fusion

SO YOU'RE CELEBRATING A BIRTHDAY TOMORROW. "Yeah, I'm turning 19. It's fantastic (laughing)."

HOW DO YOU LIKE THIS TRACK? "This is a Michigan-style of track because two miles is pretty big. We've brought the same car and I have a good idea about the aero package on it, so I'm just excited about getting out there. Hopefully, the car will be balanced for us. We were a little unbalanced at Michigan on the aero side, so if we get that right, we'll just have to deal with the heat and the lack of grip. It's gonna be a slippery track."

DOES THIS HEAT KIND OF REMIND YOU AT ALL OF AUSTRALIA? "Yeah, this is about right."

IS THIS PLACE A BIG MORE FORGIVING FOR YOUNG DRIVERS BECAUSE OF HOW BIG AND WIDE IT IS? CAN YOU MAKE A FEW MORE MISTAKES AND GET AWAY WITH IT? "It's big and fast, so if you get in trouble you're gonna get in trouble in a hurry. Every track is big and tricky."

HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT RACING ON YOUR BIRTHDAY? "I actually haven't raced on my birthday, so maybe it'll be good luck for me."
