CLINT BOWYER, NO. 33 CHEERIOS/HAMBURGER HELPER IMPALA, QUALIFIED 3RD:

WHY ARE YOU OFF TO SUCH A QUICK START AND HOW IS THE NEW TIRE ON THIS RACE TRACK?

"I think the tire is definitely a little bit tighter, just less stagger, it's going to be tighter. That's what you're going to fight. We were always loose in here and loose off and struggling for grip. I think it is going to be a good tire. I think you can race good. I think it has forced everybody to dig in their notes and try to come up with a free enough set up. Kind of what I fought was tight in and tight kind of rolling the center and then you can free it up and be a little loose off, but a lot more grip into the corners. Hopefully, I know there's some weather possibly coming in tomorrow and hopefully we can get out there and get some practice runs in because I would really like to see that outside groove burn in and get up there and get to run. To get the season started off the way we have, I'm just very proud of everybody and it's just a lot of hard work. A lot of hard work went into this and again, it started last season. It took us all season to get it right, but I feel like we've got a good direction and everybody is working hard. I think it's finally starting to show up on Sunday."

HOW DIFFERENT WAS YOUR SET UP TODAY FROM KEVIN HARVICK AND JEFF BURTON?

"That's the neat thing is that we've got a good base package and everybody is pretty close. Nothing is more frustrating than have a year like we did last year when we were struggling for speed and everybody at every race was every which way and still don't have any speed. Now we've got a good base package. None of us are too far from that good, solid base. I'm excited about being able to work with our teammates, bounce ideas or maybe a line change and things like that back and forth and come up with the fine tuning that it takes. It seems like last year we struggled because we were swinging for the fence week in and week out to find that answer. It's pretty nice to come here and work on things like, 'Let's go down a half-pound.' It's fun to be that close."
