Fire erupts at Richard Petty Museum

A fire was reported at the Richard Petty Museum in Randleman, North Carolina.

Earlier today, there was a blaze at the historical site of Petty Enterprises, which now serves as the location of Petty's Garage and the Richard Petty Museum.

"The fire was contained to a portion of the building and was controlled quickly by local fire responders," said team spokesperson Jeff Dennison. The extent of the damage is not yet known.

There were no injuries reported with no one inside the building at the time of the incident. Petty Enterprises competed in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series from the series' inception in 1949 until 2008, earning ten championships between Lee and Richard Petty.

Richard now owns Richard Petty Motorsports (RPM) and fields two Sprint Cup cars with Aric Almirola (No. 43) and Brian Scott (No. 44)
