Earnhardt can't escape trouble at Martinsville

After winning on "the Paper clip" in October, the No. 88 collected in pile up

MARTINSVILLE, Va. – Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s day went from bad to worse at Martinsville Speedway.

After a loose tires sent him to the pits on Lap 74, his shifter broke on multiple occasions.

But after completing 227 laps, Earnhardt was collected in a pile up in Turns 1 and 2 that collected Casey Mears, David Ragan, Justin Algaier, Cole Whitt, Sam Hornish Jr. and Paul Menard.

After Earnhardt ran into the back of the No. 27 Menard’s Chevy, Earnhardt told his team, “I knocked the radiator out of it. I didn’t see what happened.”

Earnhardt remained in the garage as the race returned to green.

Joey Logano has led 108 laps but was involved in a spin with Michael Annett on Lap 219 in Turn 2.
