RIGGS PLACES 11TH IN DOVER

DOVER, Del. (June 5, 2005) -- Scott Riggs posted an 11th-place finish in Sunday's MBNA RacePoints 400 here at Dover International Speedway.

"We were one adjustment away from having a much better finish," said Riggs. "The Valvoline Chevy was tight in the center of the corners and never could get it freed up.

"I'm not sure if it was because of the changes we made to the car between practice and the race that did it to us or if it was the track being so much hotter and having a lot more rubber on it after the Truck and Busch races. But I was just really tight up there and the car pushed all day long. We could never make it better."

Riggs started the 400-mile, 400-lap event 21st after Friday's Nextel Cup qualifying session was rained out and the field was lined up by owner points.

"The Valvoline team worked hard and made good changes and we had good pit stops all day," Riggs continued. "We kept getting better all race, we just never could get it right. We finally free d the rear of the car and got it to slide with the front and that helped some. Luckily we were able to hang on and stay on the lead lap.

"It's tough for us.Anytime you finish 11th it's not that bad of a day, but this team is disappointed right now because we know the potential was there for a better result. We wish we could've had a better front end and brought home a top-10 or better finish, but it was definitely a good effort on the part of the Valvoline team."

The next stop for the Valvoline team will be Sunday (June 12) at Pocono Raceway in Long Pond, Pa.
