"It was a good lap. I mean, the track slowed up a little bit from practice, but I'm pretty happy with this Valvoline car. It's real neutral. I think we're going to have a great car for Sunday - I'm really looking forward to it.
IT LOOKS LIKE YOU'VE ADAPTED TO THIS TEAM PRETTY WELL. "I'm only here for two weeks - Johnny's (Benson) coming back next week. Hopefully I'll have something going on here pretty soon."
BOBBY LABONTE, NO. 18 INTERSTATE BATTERIES PONTIAC GRAND PRIX:
"The lap didn't feel good, but the tracked slowed down some and hopefully we didn't slow down as much as some of the other guys did which would help us out with a starting spot. I wish we would've left some other stuff alone, but how did we know how the track was going to slow down. We really didn't know until everybody started qualifying and by then it was too late for us to change a lot of stuff. We tried to adjust on it some, but really couldn't do it very much."
STACY COMPTON, NO. 14 CONSECO PONTIAC GRAND PRIX:
"We made some good changes. The crew made some changes after practice and freed us up a little bit. You know, it wasn't a bad lap. Not what we were hoping for, but it's a decent lap. These guys keep working hard every week. We've been pretty decent every week, but just haven't had good luck. If we can get some breaks, I think you'll see this Conseco Pontiac digging its way back out of this hole. We're not bad - we should be good for the race.
YOU QUALIFIED 8TH FOR THE BUSCH RACE TOMORROW. DOES RUNNING THE BUSCH CAR HERE HELP YOU AT ALL? "I think just about everything transfers - the cars are so similar now. We put a lot of things that's on the Busch car that's on the Cup car. They drive almost exactly alike. With our Busch deal, what works on Saturday transfers to Sunday, and what works on Sunday transfers to Saturday."
TONY STEWART, NO. 20 HOME DEPOT PONTIAC GRAND PRIX:
"We're loose. Loose everywhere. But I'm not too worried. We seem to struggle in qualifying, but we always end up running well with the race setup Greg Zipadelli (crew chief) puts on The Home Depot Pontiac. This just fits the template. So in all reality, I'm kind of excited about what we'll have for Sunday."
