CARL EDWARDS - No. 99 Office Depot Taurus

WHAT IS YOUR OUTLOOK FOR THE RACE TOMORROW? "We just didn't have a very good qualifying effort. We spent a lot of time in race trim, so, hopefully, it pays off and we march to the front. It's more fun to pass people than to get passed, so, hopefully, we can just go up there and have the best run we can get."

AFTER LAST WEEK'S RACE, WHAT KIND OF RACING DO YOU EXPECT TO SEE TOMORROW? "I don't think anyone is going to be bumping anyone out of the way on purpose here because it's so tough and so fast. I think everyone will be fine. There are always going to be mistakes, but this is a hard place to retaliate and not really take a chance on hurting someone, so I think everyone will be fine."

AS YOU SIZE UP THE CHASE TRACKS IS THERE A STRETCH THAT YOU'RE REALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO AND THAT SUITS YOU BETTER? "To be honest with you, I like all of the race tracks. I don't think any of them are anymore difficult than others. They're all the same for everyone. I think maybe the way I plan as far as the chances I take and the way I try to gain time on the race track, there are little things I need to learn about some of these places. But there are places that I feel like we're going to go and unload fast and be fast all weekend and I'm pretty excited about all of those."

LAST YEAR ELLIOTT SADLER SAID HE LEANED ON HIS VETERAN TEAMMATE FOR SOME ADVICE ON HOW TO RACE FOR A CHAMPIONSHIP. HAVE YOU DONE ANYTHING OF THAT NATURE YET WITH YOUR TEAMMATES? "No, I haven't really spoken to any of them about that. I probably will as we get into it a little farther, but right now what I'm focusing on is just getting the most points that I can. I think it's pretty straightforward - just get whatever we can get."

HAVE YOU SENSED A CHANGE IN INTENSITY AS FAR AS THE ATMOSHERE NOW THAT THE CHASE HAS STARTED? "To be honest with you, no, not as much as I thought I would. It's so early and we've still got nine races left so I don't think anything is going to be real intense until the last three or four. I think that's when it will really get down to that same kind of feeling I had in my stomach when we were getting ready to go to Richmond. You're going to have to be real precise and try to get as many points as you can. Plus, there might be some grudges building by then and rivalries that are going to be pretty intense."
