KYLE PETTY (No. 45 Sprint Dodge Intrepid R/T) "I'm all right. I just got run over. The guys on the crew have worked hard, and we thought we could have a good day today. It didn't work out that way."
CARL LONG (No. 85 Mansion Motorsports Dodge Intrepid R/T) "We didn't have enough air to the brakes. The brakes were giving away on me. I don't know what happened first. I don't know if the rotor disintegrated going into the corner or what. I went off in the corner and it shot straight to the wall. I thought it was just starting to push up to the wall. I let off the brake trying to let it ride through the corner. It had a magnet in that wall, and I found it. We had been tight. We started the race loose and couldn't get off the corner good. We changed some stuff around and got it where it was tight off the corner and real tight in the center. I could stand on the brake pedal and come off good, but I couldn't drive it like that because the brakes kept giving away. I was having to let off early and let it roll through the corner. I really wasn't running like the car was capable of running. We won't go back out. We're going to try to get this car ready for Atlanta."
STERLING MARLIN (No. 40 Coors Light Dodge Intrepid R/T) "We got caught like everybody else and had to play catchup the rest of the day. We just about got a top 10 out of it, and I think the car was definitely a top 10 car. That's the way it goes. Congratulations to Joe Nemechek. I know those guys have been working hard all season, and so have my guys. We've got three to go, and we'll just go out and try to get all we can get."
WARD BURTON (No. 22 Caterpillar Dodge Intrepid R/T) "We got back on the lead lap. Two or three runs, we had the best car. Two or three runs we were a top five car and not the best car. I'm proud of my guys. They did a great job of working on the car and getting it to turn for me. It was a little bit of a struggle yesterday and some of the changes we made helped it. We've still got to get a little better. A lot of it was just tire inconsistency. We'd try some stagger, and actually more stagger sometimes would make the front push more which doesn't make any sense at all. With more rear stagger it ought to make the nose turn. I believe everybody drove clean all day. I thought it was a pretty good race. I just wish we could have finished a little better."
BILL DAVIS (Car owner Bill Davis Racing Dodge Intrepid R/Ts) "Our cars were pretty good today, just not quite good enough. The 93 was really fast. It's a shame they lost that lap when they did because they were flying. We were looking to build for next year with Philippe Lopez working the first time for us as crew chief today, but it worked out pretty good."
DAVE BLANEY (No. 93 Amoco Ultimate Dodge Intrepid R/T) "We had a real good car. The first run of the day we lost a ton of ground being too loose. They got it fixed up after that and I think we were one of the best five cars all day. We got lapped on that pit stop deal and never could get track position back. We ran good here in the spring and we ran basically the same stuff today. We made some good calls in the pits. We just got caught. Everybody did."
CASEY ATWOOD (No. 19 Dodge Dealers Dodge Intrepid R/T) NOTE: Atwood was the highest finishing Raybestos Rookie of the Year driver on Sunday. He has been the highest finishing rookie six times this season. "We'd like to have been a lot better. The car was too loose all day. We never could get it out. The tires would wear out and we'd just slip and slide everywhere. I couldn't get off the corners. It could have been better, but it wasn't too bad. The tires go away instantly. After about 20 laps our car started getting really bad. I could pass people for a little while, but our car just went away too much. "We're a little bit disappointed after a good qualifying run. Our car was just too loose. We could run for about 10 laps and we just spun the right rear tire off of it and got too loose. We couldn't hang on to it. I think we were about 16th with a few laps to go and the car just went away. I think we ended up about 20th. I guess it was a decent day. "I learned a lot about this track. I moved around and ran about every line you could run. The middle part of the race my car was better on top. At the end it was better on the bottom. I'll be a lot better at this track next time."
