STERLING MARLIN (No. 40 Coors Light Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Marlin will drive a brand new chassis in the New England 300. Marlin has led the way for Dodge all season. Driving for the Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates team, Marlin has had the top finishing Dodge in 10 of 18 events. He has five top fives and 10 top 10s with only two DNFs. The 44-year-old Franklin, Tenn., native is the only driver who has been ranked in the top 10 all season. He hasn^Òt been lower than seventh in the standings, and he was at the top of the class after his third place finish in the third race of the season at Las Vegas. Marlin, currently fifth in the NASCAR Winston Cup Standings (NWCS), is only 11 points behind fourth-place Rusty Wallace and 218 points behind co-leaders Jeff Gordon and Dale Jarrett at the midway point. Marlin has led laps in 13 of 18 events. He^Òs led a total of 36 times for 297 laps and led the most laps at Talladega (51). In 12 starts at NHIS, Marlin^Òs best finish was a sixth in 1993. He^Òs had three top 10s but hasn^Òt finished in the top 10 since 1995 at Loudon.
WARD BURTON (No. 22 Caterpillar Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Burton finished 21st earlier this season at Richmond and will race the same chassis at NHIS. Burton has had the top finishing Dodge in four races this season, including two of the last three. A sixth-place finish at Sears Point and a fourth-place run in the Pepsi 400 moved Burton from 23rd to 18th in the series standings. He^Òs 240 behind 10th-place Bobby Labonte after finishing 20th last Sunday at Chicagoland Speedway. Burton has finished ninth and 10th in the standings the past two seasons. The 39-year-old driver from South Boston, Va., has two top fives and four top 10s in 2001. He^Òs led laps in four events, including the most laps (53) in the Daytona 500. In 11 career starts at New Hampshire, Burton^Òs best finish was an eight in September 1999. That was his only top 10 at the one-mile track.
BILL ELLIOTT (No. 9 Dodge Dealers Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Elliott will bring his Las Vegas and Texas chassis to NHIS. He finished 14th with it in both events. In his first season behind the wheel of a Dodge after years in the Ford camp, Elliott started off in style by winning the pole for the Daytona 500 and finishing fifth in the race. That^Òs been his only pole and only top five finish this season, but the 45-year-old driver from Dawsonville, Ga., has had top 10 finishes in three of the last five races. First-year car owner Ray Evernham and Elliott had the top finishing Dodge in the Daytona 500. Elliott has a total of four top 10s to go along with his one fifth-place run, and he has no DNFs. In 12 starts at New Hampshire, Elliott has three top 10s and one top five. His best finish there was a fifth in July 1999. He^Òs ranked 19th in the NWCS.
DAVE BLANEY (No. 93 Amoco Ultimate Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Blaney will bring a brand new chassis to NHIS. Blaney scored the best finish for Dodge at Texas, a career-best sixth-place run for the 36-year-old driver from Hartford, Ohio. Blaney has led laps in only one race this season, but his Intrepid had the field covered for 70 laps at Atlanta before a miscue in the pits robbed him of the victory. Blaney has three top 10s and jumped from 27th to 24th in the standings with his 12th-place finish last week at Chicago. Blaney wrecked his primary Intrepid in practice on Saturday at Chicago and had to start a backup Dodge from the rear of the field. He gained 31 positions by the end of the race. Blaney also started 43rd at Texas when he finished sixth. With just 57 career starts on the NASCAR Winston Cup circuit, the former World of Outlaws champion gives Bill Davis Racing two cars in the top 25. He^Òs 201 points behind his teammate Burton but only 108 points out of 20th. Blaney has three career starts at NHIS with a best finish of 26th there last September.
JOHN ANDRETTI (No. 43 Cheerios Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Andretti, a 38-year-old driver from Indianapolis, Ind., will drive the same chassis he finished 19th with earlier this season at Dover. Andretti has scored the highest finish of the season so far for Dodge, a runner-up performance at Bristol. He has one top five and two top-10 finishes in ^Ñ01 and ranks 31st in the NWCS. In 11 career starts at NHIS, Andretti has scored three top-10 finishes with a best of third in August 1998. He finished seventh last September in the restrictor-plate race.
STACY COMPTON (No. 92 Kodiak Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Compton will be making his third career Cup start at Loudon and will drive the same chassis he finished 15th with earlier this season at Martinsville. Compton won the pole at Talladega, qualified second for the Daytona 500 and third for the Pepsi 400 at Daytona. He has one top 10 finish and ranks 32nd in the series standings. Compton, a 34-year-old driver from Grit, Va., finished 16th last September at NHIS and will be making his 50th career Cup start on Sunday.
CASEY ATWOOD (No. 19 Dodge Dealers Dodge Intrepid R/T)
The 20-year-old driver from Nashville, Tenn., will be making his first Cup start at NHIS in a chassis he finished 12th with at Richmond. It was Atwood^Òs best finish of the season. The Raybestos rookie of the year driver finished 28th last week at Chicago. He ranks 34th in the NWCS and fourth in the six-driver rookie race.
JASON LEFFLER (No. 01 Cingular Wireless Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Leffler, a 25-year-old Raybestos rookie driver from Long Beach, Calif., will be making his first career Cup start at NHIS in a chassis he drove to a 26th-place finish earlier this season at Richmond. Leffler finished 24th last week at Chicago, ranks 37th in the NWCS and fifth in the Raybestos rookie race.
BUCKSHOT JONES (No. 44 Georgia Pacific Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Jones, who led the way for Dodge earlier this season at Talladega with a 16th-place finish, will be making his first Cup start at NHIS in a car he drove earlier this season at Bristol and Dover with finishes of 33rd and 26th, respectively. Jones, who will celebrate his 31st birthday on Monday, is from Tucker, Ga. He finished 38th at Chicago and ranks 39th in the NWCS.
KYLE PETTY (No. 45 Sprint Dodge Intrepid R/T)
In 10 career Cup starts at NHIS, Petty has three top-10 finishes and all of them were eighth-place runs. He will race the same chassis that finished 42nd at Martinsville and 22nd at Richmond earlier this season. Petty, a 41-year-old driver from Randleman, N.C., ranks 43rd in the NWCS.
