Robinson returns to Daytona International Speedway.
Concord, NC (July 1, 2002) Shawna Robinson will experience 400 miles of racing at Daytona International Speedway this weekend. Robinson, enthusiastic about the numerous hours of seat time, returns to the site where she received her most recent success in NASCAR's top division.
"I always look forward to racing in Daytona," said Robinson. "I highlighted this track on the schedule before the season started. I've enjoyed so many racing memories at Daytona and I hope this weekend adds to the list."
Robinson went to Daytona in February this year with a brand new team that had only been put together only 5 weeks prior to the event. She finished 24th in the prestigious Winston Cup season opener.
"In February at the season opener we were able to give the No. 49 BAM Racing team a pretty good finish. The season started out a little rocky after we had some mechanical failures at Las Vegas and Atlanta and couldn't really find the right combination. We plan on turning it around back here at Daytona. We've elected to bring back the same car to the race this weekend and we know we've got a shot to finish in the top-15.
Ron Hornaday tested the No. 49 BAM Racing car last week. After the test the team came back to the shop and made some aerodynamic changes to the body. BAM Racing has been to the wind tunnel twice in the last month to improve the aerodynamics of it's cars and they are hopeful that this will make the car more competitive in qualifying as well as racing conditions. The BAM Racing team also learned a few things they could change to help out the chassis package at Daytona.
Bud Pole Qualifying for the event begins at 8:15 p.m. on Thursday, July 4th. The green flag will drop at 7:30 p.m. for the Pepsi 400. The event will be broadcast live on Fox and MRN
