Daytona II: Earnhardt Jr - GM interview

Dale Earnhardt, Jr.

A LOT OF PEOPLE STILL THINK YOU ARE THE FAVORITE THIS WEEKEND. WHAT DO YOU THINK? We've got good cars. We can win races here. I think we can get it done. It's just harder. We were real dominating here a couple of years ago. We lost a little bit of that edge, but we've still got great cars. Still got good enough cars to win, that's all that matters.

HOW DOES YOUR RESTRICTOR PLATE PROGRAM COMPARE TO THE REST OF YOUR PROGRAMS? It's pretty good, I think. We've struggled a lot this year, you know? When we come to the plate tracks we expect to do well.

HOW ARE YOU FEELING? Tired. I don't know. You lose a lot of fluids. Just getting some rest-that's helping a lot. I'm starting to feel more like myself.

ANY THOUGHTS ON YOUR CREW CHIEF, WILL WE POSSIBLY SEE TONY JR. BACK AS YOUR CREW CHIEF? Yeah, I haven't thought about it. We've been working real hard the past couple of weeks to put some good runs in this year. When it's time face all that stuff, we'll worry about it then.

TONY EURY SR. WAS QUOTED THIS WEEK AS SAYING THE TEAM SWAP (BETWEEN #8 AND #15) WAS A BAD MOVE. WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THAT? That's history. It's all in the past.
