Jeremy Mayfield was the fastest Toyota in Saturday's practice session posting the fourth fastest lap of the session.

Two Toyota drivers, Dave Blaney and Dale Jarrett, are locked into the field for Sunday's Daytona 500 Blaney, based on 2006 owner points and Jarrett based on a past champion's provisional.

AJ Allmendinger and David Reutimann are attempting to make their first career starts in the Daytona 500.

Jarrett has earned a total of four pole awards at Daytona, three of which have been for the Daytona 500 (1995, 2000 and 2005). He has also visited victory lane in the 500 three times (1993, 1996 and 2000).

Michael Waltrip has never earned a pole at Daytona, but has won the 500 twice (2001 and 2003).

Mike Skinner earned two pole positions in Cup Series competition at Daytona. The 1997 Daytona 500 as well as the 1997 Pepsi 400.

On the results of Daytona 500 qualifying for the Toyota teams: "Looks like our Daytona 500 will start on Thursday. I'm not surprised; this is the best field of cars ever assembled for this race. I'm disappointed for the teams and our crew at TRD. Everybody has worked incredibly hard getting ready for this week. We came to Daytona to race - we'll just get started a few days earlier."
