Ryan Newman: Defending Daytona 500 Champion to Conduct Fan Q&A

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Feb. 11, 2009) -- Defending Daytona 500 champion and U.S. Army driver Ryan Newman will conduct a 30-minute question and answer session for the fans. The program is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 13 starting at 4:15 p.m. at the U.S. Army Strength In Action Zone, located outside of Turn 4 in the midway corporate display area at Daytona International Speedway.

Newman said he welcomes all types of questions from fans even the ones that are meant to stump him.

"It's all about the fans having fun and enjoying the total racing experience," said Newman. "I have fond memories when my father and I would come to Daytona as fans and take part in some of the cool activities that surround the race."

The one question that Newman is sure to get asked is if he can repeat last year's 500 win. He was quite succinct when he answered that question after a recent practice session at Daytona.

"I feel like we have all the pieces to be able to repeat," said Newman. "It's just a matter if racing luck is on our side."

The last repeat winner of the Daytona 500 was Sterling Marlin in 1994 and 1995.
