JOHNNY BENSON, NO. 10 VALVOLINE PONTIAC GRAND PRIX:

WHAT ARE YOUR EXPECTATIONS FOR TOMORROW? "We feel like we can qualify in the top 20. We're not sure where we're going to end up. A lot of guys didn't show everything; that's everything that we had. We'll see."

HOW MUCH MORE INTENSE WILL IT GET TOMORROW? "It's not going to get anymore intense. You're not going to do anything different tomorrow than you did today, other than you're going to put your qualifying fluids in the car, bolt new tires on - things of this nature. "We showed everything that we had today and that is all the quicker it is going to go. It just depends what we get away with going through 'the room' (tech inspection) - what they (NASCAR) are going to take away and what they're going to give - and then see what we have. "It makes it difficult. I guess the only thing we're not real happy about is that you go through the testing, we felt we were decent, but some of the guys weren't so they complained and got rule changes and all of a sudden they're at the top of the sheet, too. It's going to be interesting tomorrow to see how bad everybody is or how good everybody is."

HOW EASILY DID YOUR TEAM GET THROUGH TECH INSPECTION? "We got through pretty good. We were about the 10th car to get a sticker on the window. What we ran in testing is as good as you can get. We had very few things changed on the car, so we breezed right through."

THIS RULES PACKAGE IS SIMILAR TO THE PACKAGE IN 2000 WHEN YOU NEARLY WON THE '500'...DOES THAT HELP YOU? "We sure hope so, but this is a different car than what I had two years ago, too. We don't know. We're going to watch the Bud Shootout and see what it's going to do, as far as the rules go and see what they're going to change or not change. Then, of course, Thursday is going to be a better indication of what is going to happen on Sunday. But, I feel good about how the Valvoline Pontiac is going to run. We're just going to wait and see what Thursday is going to bring us, but we feel good about the rules."
