AMBROSE EIGHTH FASTEST IN WEDNESDAY PRACTICE AT DAYTONA

Marcos Ambrose has set the eighth fastest time in the fourth practice session in preparation for the 51st Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway in Florida today.

Ambrose worked hard at achieving a solid race set-up on the #47 Little Debbie entry with crew chief Frankie Kerr, their work paying dividends in the second session of the day today.

Ambrose's starting spot in the Daytona 500 will be confirmed in tomorrow's Gatorade Duels, where the 32-year-old will start the first of two qualifying duels form 14th position.

"The times in practice here at Daytona have a lot to do with the drafting, but I'm happy with the car and the way we are running so far," said Ambrose.

"We are not getting ahead of ourselves, but the signs are all good. I'm very happy to be a part of this team because we are working very well together right from day one. In this game that's so important and the team have given me a great car.

"It's hard not to get excited about running in your first Daytona 500. This place has an atmosphere of it's own and I've just got to concentrate on my part of the job and take it as it comes. I can't wait for race day."

Ambrose will become the first Australian to race in the Daytona 500 on Monday morning Australian time, guaranteed a starting spot in the epic race.
