TBR AT TALLADEGA – TBR made four starts at the Alabama track since the team’s inception in 2009. Blaney started from the team’s best starting position of seventh in the 2010 fall event. Robert Richardson collected TBR’s best finish of 18th in the fall 2009 race.
CHASSIS NO. 27 – TBR will run chassis No. 27 this weekend at TSS. The team ran the chassis in this year’s Daytona 500, where the No. 36 Golden Corral Chevrolet was poised for a top-10 finish before a late-race incident ended the team’s day early.
LAST RACE RECAP: SAMSUNG MOBILE 500 – Blaney started the Samsung Mobile 500 from the 38th position. The No. 36 Accell Construction Chevrolet struggled with handling as the field raced into the night. Blaney and the TBR team worked to make the car better and finished 30th.
IN THE POINTS – The No. 36 Golden Corral Chevrolet is currently 38th in owner points, six points outside the top-35. Blaney is currently 34th in NSCS driver points.
TOP-35 IMPORTANCE – Starting at Martinsville Speedway, the 2011 NSCS Owner Points will guarantee the top-35 teams a starting spot each week. The No. 36 TBR team’s main goal of the weekend is to work their way into the top-35 and guarantee a spot in the race at Richmond International Raceway. If the No. 36 Golden Corral Chevrolet moves into the top-35 this weekend, it will be the first time since the team’s inception in 2009 that TBR will have a guaranteed starting spot, which would allow the team to focus solely on race day setup instead of qualifying.
Having one race under our belts will help us with strategy for the race this weekend.
Dave Blaney Quotes:
ON THE TWO-CAR DRAFT – “The draft is very different now. It makes it a lot harder on the single-car teams like us. We did a good job at Daytona but as we got to the front we lost our drafting partners to their teammates. Having one race under our belts will help us with strategy for the race this weekend.”
Tommy Baldwin Quotes:
ON GOLDEN CORRAL – “We are thrilled to have Golden Corral back on board. We had some great coverage at Daytona and almost finished in the top-10. It was really exciting to race for American Families and try to win them free meals. Our team will work hard this weekend to finish in the top-10 to have kids eat free on Monday and support the DAV.”
