Michael Waltrip, who qualified ninth for tomorrow's NASCAR Winston Cup event in the No. 15 NAPA Chevrolet Monte Carlo, made contact with the turn two wall in Saturday morning's second practice session and will be forced to switch to a back-up car.

The car Waltrip will drive Sunday raced at Rockingham on Feb. 23 (started 22nd, finished 19th) and was run during a test session here.

Waltrip came to Darlington ranked third in the 2003 Winston Cup point standings.

MICHAEL WALTRIP, NO. 15 NAPA CHEVROLET MONTE CARLO:

ON HIS INCIDENT DURING SATURDAY'S SECOND PRACTICE SESSION -- "Something happened to the right front. I felt like I hit something on the straightaway, but there wasn't much I could do about it at that point (entering turns one and two)."
