On the 34th lap of the Daytona 500, a nine-car crash sent star drivers Kasey Kahne, Sprint Unlimited victor Kevin Harvick, Tony Stewart, Juan Pablo Montoya and five others to the sidelines.
According to Kahne, he had to check-up when the three cars ahead of him slowed. In turn, he got bumped by Kyle Busch and spun off the track. Running in a large pack, cars scattered in every direction.
It all happened so quick.
“We had a really, really good car, and I am disappointed with the outcome,” Stewart said. He and his team are working feverishly on the car, hoping to get back into action and earn points.
Added Kahne, “We got bumped after the first three cars slowed quickly. It all happened so quick. I wanted to race and not have to sit in single file like everyone is doing.”
After making major repairs, Kahne and Montoya have returned to action. Keselowski and Jamie McMurray are also back in the race.
