7 Days Until the Budweiser Shootout
Notebook: Previous Shootout winners in the 2004 line-up

(Saturday, Jan. 31, 2004) -- Of all the races in Budweiser Shootout history, more than half of them (14 of 25) were won by drivers competing in the 2004 Budweiser Shootout. A look at the previous winners who will be racing in the season-opening, all-star race at Daytona International Speedway on Feb. 7:

Dale Earnhardt Jr. (2003) -- Driving the No. 8 Budweiser Special Edition "Day Fresh" Chevrolet, Junior could become only the fourth driver in Shootout history to win two in a row.

Tony Stewart (2001, 2002) -- Proved his wins were no fluke by holding off two of NASCAR's best superspeedway drivers -- Dale Earnhardt in 2001 and Earnhardt Jr. in 2002 -- to land in Victory Lane.

Dale Jarrett (1996, 2000) -- One of only five people to earn wins in the Budweiser Shootout and the Daytona 500 in the same Speedweeks (2000).

Mark Martin (1999) -- Returns for his 16th consecutive Budweiser Shootout only five years after outlasting Ken Schrader, Bobby Labonte and Mike Skinner to the checkers.

Rusty Wallace (1998) -- Was victorious in one of the more memorable Shootouts in history by beating his younger brother, Kenny, to make it a one-two Wallace finish.

Jeff Gordon (1994, 1997) -- Won in his first Shootout appearance in 1994 and then again three years later ... finished runner-up to Earnhardt Jr. last season.

Geoffrey Bodine (1992) -- Has been in the fourth-most Shootouts of any driver with 15 but is still looking for a car to drive in the 2004 race.

Ken Schrader (1989, 1990) -- Became only the second driver at the time to win back-to-back Shootout victories, and is now one of only three to do so.

Bill Elliott (1987) -- Will drive the No. 91 Evernham Motorsports Dodge to make his record 19th start in the Budweiser Shootout.

Terry Labonte (1985) -- Raced in his first Shootout in 1982 and earned a victory three years later ... will be making his 15th start in this all-star race.

The 26th running of the Budweiser Shootout is scheduled for Sat., Feb. 7. It can be seen live on TNT at 8 p.m. ET. For race tickets, call 1-800-PITSHOP or log on to www.1-800-Pitshop.com.
