RIGGS FINISHES 23RD AT CHICAGOLAND

JOLIET, Ill. (July 10, 2005)-- Despite numerous adjustments to the Valvoline Chevrolet during Sunday's USG SHEETROCK 400, nothing worked in the team's effort to loosen up the race car, and the end result for Scott Riggs was a 23rd-place finish at Chicagoland Speedway.

"It was a tough day," offered Riggs. "The car just wouldn't turn in the center of the corner-- it's the same problem we've had since we unloaded it. The team made a lot of adjustments but nothing ever got the Valvoline Chevy to cut where I needed it to."

Riggs started the 267-lap event seventh but quickly fell through the field as he struggled with the car's handling.

"Everywhere we've taken this car we've been tight," Riggs explained. "I think we need to go back to the drawing board-- all the way back to how that car was built body-wise and chassis-wise."

"All the guys gave a great effort," he continued. "I know it's frustrating to work on the Valvoline car all weekend and then have it not run the way you want and expect it to. We just couldn't get the car where we could race our way back to the front. This is a strong team though and we'll be back next week trying hard again."

The next stop for Riggs and the Valvoline team will be Sunday (July 17) at New Hampshire International Speedway.
